In case the extrusion of your 3D pen doesn’t work, check if the filament is inserted correctly into the 3D pen’s tail. When this is done as instructed, check if the nozzle isn’t clogged. Does the nozzle look clogged? Go to “The nozzle seems to be clogged” and go through all the steps.

In case the indication light of the 3D pen is not working, first check if the adapter is plugged into the socket and the cable is plugged into the 3D pen. When your 3D pen seems to show the following symptoms, it could be that your 3D pen is clogged:
- The filament isn’t extruding from the 3D pen.
- The 3D pen doesn’t insert the filament.
- The nozzle seems to be clogged with filament.
What to do
Turn on the 3D pen and wait until it reaches the right temperature. You know it’s ready for use when the indication light turns from orange to green. Insert a new filament at the back of the 3D pen and hold the extrusion button. The remaining filament that is still in the nozzle will be pushed out of the 3D pen by the new filament. Please remember to always use the same kind of filament (PLA, ABS or PETG).

In order to prevent the 3D pen from getting clogged again, we advise you to remove the filament from the 3D pen when you turn it off. To do this hold the on/off button on the 3D pen for 2 seconds. The filament will come out of the back of the 3D printing pen. Don’t forget to cut the filament straight that came out of the pen.
USE OF THE 3D PEN
It is normal that there is white filament extruding from your 3D pen when you start working with your 3Dandprint 3D pen for the first time. Every single 3D pen is tested in the factory before it will be sold in the store. White filament will be used to check if your 3D pen is working properly. After a few seconds all the white filament will be extruded and your chosen color will extrude from the 3D pen!
No, it is dangerous to draw on your skin. The nozzle can reach up to 245 °C.
The 3D pen can be used from the age of 14. Under the age of 14, only under supervision. The nozzle of the 3D pen can become extremely hot, reaching temperatures of up to 230 °C. Please read the safety instructions before you start.
It takes time to develop your 3D printing skills. We advise you to practice and to start with easy creations like the glasses and the butterfly. These 3D stencils are included with the starter kit. You’ll learn quickly and you’ll make the most beautiful creations in no time!
You cannot change your creation by reheating the filament. If you want to change small pieces, you can press the hot nozzle against the filament and try to adjust it. You can also try to put the filament in hot water so it becomes a little softer. Be careful that you don’t break your creation by accident.
We advise you to remove the filament by holding the on/off button for 2 seconds on the 3D pen. The filament will come out of the back from the 3D pen this way. Don’t forget to cut the filament that came out of the pen straight.
When the filament is not inserting in the 3D pen’s tail and the filament doesn’t come out of the nozzle anymore, you can extrude a new filament.
Yes, you can draw in the air with the 3D pen. You have to start on a surface, for example a stencil.
We advise you to use the 3D pen for 1.5 hours max. After 1.5 hours of working with the 3D pen, turn it off for half an hour to allow the pen to cool down. When you have done this you can start again.
The 3D pen is not waterproof. The 3D pen is an electronic appliance, please be aware of the danger of using the 3D pen near water.
Make sure you cut the filament straight when removing the filament from the 3D pen. When you don’t cut the filament after removing the filament from the 3D pen or you cut it diagonally, there is a chance the 3D pen can get clogged when reusing the filament.

Place the 3D pen on the base stand, included with the 3D pen starter kit. When the 3D pen has cooled down, after 30 minutes, you can store the 3D pen.
After turning on the 3D pen, it takes about 80 seconds to reach the right temperature. When the 3D pen is completely hot, the indication light will turn from orange to green. The green light means the 3D pen is ready for use!
I want to use another color, but there is still filament left in the 3D pen. How can I change filaments?
When you want to change filaments, you have to get the current color filament out of your 3D pen. To do this you will have to hold the on/off button on the 3D pen for 2 seconds. The filament that is in the pen will now come out of the backside of the 3D pen. Don’t forget to cut the filament straight before you put it into the pen.
This is how you cut the filament:
When the 3D pen is ready for use and the indication light is green you can start placing the filament at the 3D pen’s tail. Press the extrusion button on the 3D pen. Depending on the speed control setting, it will extrude the filament either slowly or more quickly.
Normal paper sticks to the filament. Therefore our advice is to use tracing paper for the 3D creations of your 3D pen. With this kind of paper you can easily trace the lines of the stencil and you can also pull the filament easily off the paper.
Furthermore, we recommend putting transparent tape on the 3D pen stencil before you start with your 3D creation. When you work on the tape you will experience that the filament will come off the stencil easily. Keep in mind that you do not use the tape multiple times. The temperature of the 3D pens nozzle can get very hot and the tape will melt after using it too long.
You can change the speeds of the filament extrusion by using the speed control button on the side of the 3D pen. Push the button towards the plus and the extrusion will go faster. Push the button towards the minus and the extrusion will go slower.

No, you can not use 3mm filament in the 3D pen. The 3D pen of 3Dandprint works only with ABS, PLA and PETG filaments with a width of 1.75mm.
No, the 3D pen will automatically shut off after 2 minutes if the 3D pen is not in use. When you press the on/off button, the 3D printing pen will turn on and heat up again.
If your 3D pen is in the fastest speed mode there is a chance that your 3D pen won’t extrude ABS filament. This problem can be solved by powering off the 3D pen and changing the speed mode to middle or slow speed. Turn on the power of the 3D pen and your 3D pen will extrude the ABS.
You can only use ABS, PETG and PLA filaments with a width of 1.75mm in the 3D pen of 3Dandprint.
You can use ABS, PETG or PLA filaments. Before you change from PLA to ABS or PETG filaments or the other way around, we advise you to take the filament out of the 3D printing pen. When the 3D pen is empty you can extrude a new filament. This will prevent the 3D pen from getting clogged.
It is not possible to reuse a filament. When the filament is heated it no longer has the shape to fit into the 3D pen.
